Yes. OHFA says Housing Choice Voucher participants in its program will need to use AssistanceConnect starting in 2027. For an Oklahoma City metro household receiving assistance through OHFA, the useful step now is to check account access before a busy move or paperwork deadline. OHFA has scheduled an account-setup webinar for November 4. Creating a portal account is separate from applying for a voucher or receiving permission to move.
Who needs to prepare for the change?
The announcement comes from the Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency. Its AssistanceConnect page describes a portal for paperwork, document uploads, reporting changes and receiving agency updates. The page says the requirement starts in 2027; it does not give a more specific start date.
First, look at the agency name on your assistance paperwork. An Oklahoma City address alone does not establish which housing authority manages your case. If another authority administers your voucher, ask that authority which system and instructions apply. This OHFA announcement does not establish a universal portal rule for every voucher household in the metro.
What should you check before creating an account?
OHFA’s published setup instructions from February 2023 explain that a new user needs the PIN supplied in an agency letter. If you cannot find that PIN, the instructions direct you to call 405-842-2471. OHFA’s current rental-assistance contact page also lists that number for Housing Choice Voucher questions.
Use the portal link on OHFA’s official page. If you already have an account, try signing in before assuming you need another one. Check whether you still have access to the email address or phone used for account recovery. Keep any PIN and login information private, especially when someone is helping you set up access.
If internet access, a disability or difficulty using the portal creates a barrier, ask OHFA what help is available for your situation. Do that early enough to discuss the problem before an existing paperwork deadline. The account announcement does not say those deadlines are suspended while someone works through login trouble.

What will the November 4 webinar cover?
OHFA’s November 4 account-setup webinar will cover creating an account, signing in and using portal features, with an opportunity for questions. The agency invites participants and people who assist them, including caregivers and landlords. It says a recording will be available afterward.
Use the official event page for registration and the current schedule. Before attending, write down the step that is causing trouble: locating the PIN, recovering an account or understanding where to find a message. Keep questions about a particular household’s private records for an appropriate direct conversation with OHFA.
Does portal access open the voucher waiting list?
No. As checked October 16, OHFA’s Housing Choice Voucher page says its waiting list is closed to new applicants. An account-setup notice does not announce a reopening or promise eligibility, funding or a place on that list.
This distinction matters when relatives share an agency announcement. A current participant may need help getting into an existing case account. A household seeking assistance for the first time needs current application information. Those are different questions, even when both households are looking for an affordable Oklahoma City rental.

Does updating an account approve a rental move?
No. OHFA’s portability instructions describe a separate process for transferring assistance between housing authorities. For a transfer into OHFA’s area, a participant starts with the current housing agency. For a transfer out, OHFA asks for a written request with information about the destination and receiving authority.
For example, an OHFA participant considering a different metro rental can organize three separate tasks: regain portal access, ask the administering agency about the proposed move, and compare the household’s expected housing costs. Finishing the first task does not answer the other two. Ask the agency what must happen before signing a lease or committing to a move date.
For the budget comparison, our OHFA utility-allowance guide for a rental move explains a different part of the decision. Account access does not determine a particular property’s allowance or your final share of housing costs.
What is the most useful step today?
If OHFA administers your voucher, open its official AssistanceConnect page and check whether you can reach your existing account or locate the setup PIN. If you need help, use the agency contact information or register for the November 4 webinar. Continue following the instructions and deadlines attached to your own case.
When the housing-agency steps are clear, our Oklahoma City relocation guide can help you organize the broader move. Keep agency approval, account access and neighborhood planning as separate items on the same moving checklist.
