For a PCS move to the Tinker area, keep your existing TRICARE plan in place during travel, update DEERS after the move and separately confirm health-plan enrollment when you arrive. Ask the contractor about your particular plan and whether the address change is a qualifying life event. A new address entry alone is not a complete care-transition checklist.
TRICARE's moving guidance says a qualifying move can open a 90-day window from the address change to change plans. Your eligibility does not change merely because you move, but your available plan options may.
Identify whether the move is a qualifying life event
TRICARE describes a qualifying relocation as a move to a new country, city, region or ZIP+4 code. Confirm how that applies to the actual household and destination rather than assuming every address edit has identical consequences.
Record the move date and the deadline the contractor confirms. If household members travel or arrive on different schedules, ask how their individual records and enrollment steps should be handled. Avoid treating the sponsor’s checklist as proof that every dependent’s record is complete.
Include the confirmed dates in your Tinker-area military relocation plan. The housing search and health-plan timetable can run beside each other, but signing a home contract does not finish enrollment.
Keep coverage in place during travel
TRICARE specifically advises against disenrolling before the move. Before departure, use its plan-specific moving guidance and speak with the appropriate care or contractor team about how to access care along the way.
Make a short travel file with the contact information you have verified and the instructions relevant to the family. Keep private health and identification information secure and accessible to the people who actually need it.
For an illustrative Tinker arrival, a household may spend time in temporary lodging before occupying its chosen home. Ask the contractor what to do with that actual arrangement. Do not invent a permanent address or assume a hotel stay changes every plan rule in the same way.

Update the address and confirm the plan separately
The official DEERS guidance says to update information when circumstances change and to update your TRICARE contractor as well. It lists official ways to update contact information and explains that DEERS address records require a physical address.
After the move, complete the appropriate update and check that the information is accurate. Then obtain confirmation of health-plan enrollment and the effective details for each affected household member. Keep the two tasks separately visible on the checklist.
DEERS warns that inaccurate records can affect billing, claims, referral letters and delivery of prescriptions. If an address or other entry is wrong, use the official correction route and document the request. Do not assume that mail forwarding corrects the benefit system.
Arrange care and prescriptions before unpacking
Ask the existing care team and regional contractor about needed referrals, ongoing care and prescription arrangements before the household travels. Follow their instructions rather than adjusting medicines or treatment on your own.
Create a practical list of what must be ready on arrival: whom to contact, what appointment or authorization needs confirmation, and which requests remain pending. A submitted request should stay marked pending until the responsible party confirms it.
The Tinker PCS guide to EFMP and care continuity addresses broader EFMP and care-continuity planning. It does not replace DEERS updates or enrollment confirmation. Where both processes apply, keep the responsible contacts and completed steps distinct so a housing conversation does not get mistaken for a health-plan determination.

Keep evidence if an official system is unavailable
If you cannot complete an update, record the date, the step attempted and the error shown, taking care not to share sensitive information in ordinary messages. Use TRICARE's official contractor or support contact routes to ask how to proceed.
A system outage is not, by itself, confirmation of an extension or a completed enrollment. Ask about the applicable deadline and follow-up method, then keep the response. Verify the actual record once access is available again.
Before putting the file away, check each person’s address information, enrollment confirmation and unresolved care requests. Note who is responsible for the next action and when the household will follow up. This turns a long moving checklist into a record of what has actually happened.
Doug and Ronnie can help coordinate the property and possession side of a Tinker-area move through a conversation with OKC Metro Group. TRICARE and the appropriate military support offices determine benefit requirements. A home purchase, a base assignment and a health-plan enrollment are connected parts of the move, each with its own confirmation.
