Moving to the Oklahoma City metro involves more than changing your address. New residents should also plan for an Oklahoma driver license, vehicle title and registration, insurance updates and voter registration. Handling these items early can prevent last-minute problems after the boxes are unpacked.
1. Gather your Oklahoma residency documents
Before visiting Service Oklahoma or a licensed operator, gather the documents that establish your identity, lawful presence and Oklahoma residency. The exact documents depend on the service and whether you are applying for a standard credential or REAL ID.

2. Transfer your driver license
New Oklahoma residents generally need to apply for an Oklahoma driver license. 3. Update your auto insurance

4. Transfer the vehicle title and registration
After moving to Oklahoma, an out-of-state vehicle must be titled and registered through Service Oklahoma or a licensed operator location. Current guidance says to bring the out-of-state title, a completed Form 701-6, a valid driver license, proof of Oklahoma insurance and the vehicle being transferred.

6. Register to vote or update your registration
The Oklahoma State Election Board allows eligible voters to register and manage several services through the OK Voter Portal. Online registration requires an Oklahoma driver license or state ID and a digital signature on file with Service Oklahoma.
If you moved within the same county, you may be able to update your residence address through the portal. If you moved to a different Oklahoma county or changed your name, the State Election Board says you must submit a new voter registration application. Applications must be received at least 25 days before an election to participate in that election.
