If your priority is minimizing drive time and maximizing the years you get back with your family instead of in the car, Midwest City and Del City are hard to beat. Housing stock skews older, but prices are generally more affordable, and you genuinely cannot beat the commute to the gate.
Moore and Norman: schools and newer builds
If your family is weighing school ratings heavily, or you want a newer build with more modern floor plans, Moore and Norman are worth the trade-off. Yes, it’s a longer commute, but for a lot of families with kids, that trade is an easy one once they see the schools and the neighborhoods side by side.
Your VA loan and financing near Tinker
One thing I flag for almost every PCS client: if you’re buying new construction, some builders push back on VA financing or steer you toward their in-house lender. You have every right to use your VA loan benefit, and a good agent will make sure a builder honors that instead of quietly nudging you toward conventional financing.
Racing your report date
If you’re also selling a home at your last duty station, the math is tighter than most people expect — averaging around 50 days to sell plus another month to close often eats up most of the window between orders and report date. The earlier we start that conversation, the more options you have, instead of being forced into a rushed decision at the end.
